Edfu

We had only one excursion today, which was a nice change of pace from the breakneck speed we've been at for the past few days. Yesterday evening, we sailed to Edfu. Today we visited the teple of Horus (the Egyptian falcon god) in Edfu. This, too, was built during the Ptolemaic dynasty. The temple is nearly intact and is the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt.

The temple courtyard.

For the remainder of the afternoon, we sailed first to Essna, then to Luxor, our final destination.

After dinner, we returned to our room to find more humor from the cleaning crew.

More tomorrow. To avoid both the heat and the crowds, we must be up at 5:00 a.m. to visit the Valley of the Kings.
